Wonderful place. Knowledgeable guides. Full tour is worth it.

Very professionally run operation. Great restoration/preservation of an historical site. The full tour includes a cog train ride down Quincy Hill, an underground tram ride and an in-depth explanation of the mining process with a sociological interpretation.

Underground mine tour was really interesting, as was the tour of the shaft house and explanation of how the machinery worked. Be ready for it to be COLD inside the mine, regardless of the weather at the surface. History, geology or engineering buffs will like this tour. Only complaint is that I thought $25 per adult was a little steep.

Very important and fascinating local history. The tour was informative. It was like stepping back in time.

This simply is one of the best places to visit in the Copper Country to learn about the regions history. I have visited 3 times in the past decade and every time they have restored or added something new. The cog train ride down has a fantastic view of Houghton. The underground tour now uses and electric tram which provides a really great fume-less and smooth ride into the mine. Both tour guides were recent graduates of MTU and were extremely enthusiastic and knowledgeable about mining and the history of the mine. Someday within the future the mine will also feature a railroad museum located at the old roundhouse which has been lovingly restored to the way it looked when the mine originally closed down. They are also working on adding a mineral museum on the Quincy property and the gift shop at the site has a ton of great books if you want to further learn about the history of the area.
